Peanut Shells as an Environmentally Beneficial Sound-Absorbing Material

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study investigated the prospect of using peanut shells as an alternative and green sound-absorbing material. The sound-absorption coefficients were determined after filling impedance tubes 30, 60, 90 mm in height with shells. ability increased increased, showing noise reduction coefficient (NRCs) 0.23, 0.43, 0.54 for 30-, 60-, 90-mm heights, respectively. In addition, sounds greater than 2,000 Hz, average 60- heights was 0.9. summary, found to have good properties comparable or better those bamboo, sisal, jute, wool, this research suggests that may be useful environmentally friendly

An optimal design and application of sound-absorbing material made of exploded bamboo fibers

An acoustic material made of exploded bamboo fibers has been newly developed from an ecological viewpoint. The basic acoustical properties of the material as the sound absorption coefficient, the characteristic impedance, and the propagation constant were measured for the frequency range between 50 and 6400 Hz by the transfer function method using two-microphone impedance tubes. In order to des...

Simple Method for the Preparation of Fe3O4/MWCNT Nanohybrid as Radar Absorbing Material (RAM)

We have successfully prepared Fe3O4/MWCNT nanohybrid with a very simple and economical method. Multi-Walled Carbon NanoTubes (MWCNT) encapsulated with Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized via pyrolyzing of ferrocene. The sample was characterized with XRD, TEM and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). Also, Permeability (µ) and Permittivity (ε) were...

Coconut shells as filling material for anaerobic filters

In rural areas of developing countries, there is a lack of sanitation services and the installation of such infrastructure is hampered by the high investment costs for initial implementation and by the limited availability of qualified personnel. An alternative to traditional sanitation services include an anaerobic filter, but the high cost of appropriate filling material can be an obstacle to...

Select metal adsorption by activated carbon made from peanut shells.

Agricultural by-products, such as peanut shells, contribute large quantities of lignocellulosic waste to the environment each growing season; but few, if any, value-added uses exist for their disposal. The objective of this study was to convert peanut shells to activated carbons for use in adsorption of select metal ions, namely, cadmium (Cd2+), copper (Cu2+), lead (Pb2+), nickel (Ni2+) and zin...

Methyl Bromide Fumigation of Pratylenchus brachyurus in Peanut Shells.

Five dosages of methyl bromide were used to fumigate peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) shells and whole pods of peanuts in 1-liter flasks for 24 hr at 25 C. Methyl bromide dosages as low as 24.5 mg/liter killed all Pratylenchus brachyurus (Godfrey) Filip. &Sch. Stech. in peanut shells. Dosages of 44.6 and 50.9 mg/liter killed all but one or two nematodes in shells of whole pods. A 15% reduction in s...
